Roy Piper

Roy Piper

Owner / Operator

When he is not suited up in safety gear to work on a home remediation or abatement project, you will find Roy Piper driving around town in his eye-catching 1977 orange Chevy StepSide. Either way, he is bound to have a big smile on his face!

As co-owner of Home SOULutions Remediation, Roy brings 20 years of restoration and renovation experience, backed with extensive industry-specific training and certifications, to the business.

Although Roy’s knowledge of asbestos abatement is extensive, his specialty – and his passion – is helping homeowners address issues relating to mould, home humidity, ventilation, and air quality. Customers rave about how Roy is friendly, approachable, and knowledgeable; and that it is obvious he takes pride in both his work and his business.

Roy was born and raised in Pickering, Ontario and then lived in Calgary for 25 years. Having seen more than his fair share of snow and cold, it’s no surprise he thoroughly enjoys life on the ‘wet coast.’ You will find him in shorts year-round.

Roy believes that the Vancouver Island is the best place to work and play. He is an experienced diver and enjoys camping with his partner in business and life.

Len Steves

Site Supervisor, Asbestos

As Site Supervisor in the asbestos remediation department, Len Steves brings a wealth of experience to the Home SOULutions team. He joined the company in 2013 and initially worked out of the Victoria office. He recently relocated to Cumberland and concentrates his efforts in conducting abatement in the central island communities.
In addition to being an expert in everything asbestos, our customers report that Len is congenial, courteous and professional. (We think so, too!)

Prior to joining Home SOULutions Remediation Len worked in the asbestos abatement department of a Victoria restoration company. In addition to this, he has worked under the supervision of qualified lab analysts and gained proficiency in the environmental monitoring field. Corae Bracken

Corae Bracken

CEO & Wife

Every successful enterprise needs someone working diligently behind the scenes to ensure that the administrative side of operations runs smoothly. At Home SOULutions Remediation, that person is co-owner Corae Bracken. With an extensive background in business administration, operations management, and customer service, this energetic and outgoing woman is in her element when focused on marketing and management.

Bookkeeping is also part of Corae’s role, one that she tackles proficiently but reluctantly. She readily admits that she would much rather work on marketing or networking than posting receipts.

Understanding the value of building community, Corae volunteers on the Board of Directors of the Comox Valley Women’s Business Network and provides support to the 4Rs Education Society.

Originally from Ontario, Corae moved to Vancouver Island in 1978, and says that should qualify her as an ‘Islander.’

During her free time, Corae loves to spend time with her dogs. She is proud to have achieved a confirmation championship and Canine Good Neighbour title on her Rottweiler. She enjoys the sport of canine agility with her rescued Bull Terrier, who challenges her in training while living up to breed’s reputation as being a ‘kid in a dog suit.’

Sue Johnston

Sue Johnston

Customer Service

A former local business owner and long-time Comox Valley resident, Sue Johnston became the Customer Service Representative for Home SOULutions Remediation in 2013. Since then, she has become an expert on the subjects of mould, home humidity, and asbestos.

Sue’s duties include being a virtual assistant and public relations representative. She enjoys educating people about the dangers of mould and asbestos and how Home SOULutions Remediation can help.

In her role as a company ambassador, Sue regularity attends Comox Valley Business Network, Chamber of Commerce, and Women’s Business Network functions where she never fails to entertain people by coming up with new and innovative ‘tag lines’ for the business. “We don’t want to grow ‘mould’ with you!” is one that always gets a laugh!

Sue is a great addition to the Home SOULutions team and a resource to the company. Co-owners Roy Piper and Corae Bracken often tap in on her business experience and value her opinion.

Sue and her fiance, Mark, live in Courtenay with their dog ‘Bella’. Sue loves gardening and golf, and is said to be a pretty good fisher-woman. She is also an active volunteer with the 4R’s Education Society.
